From what we have seen in the last couple of weeks, it’s safe to assume that 2018 is indeed going to be the year of budget smartphones and flagship features being available to the masses. While we have been witnessing Chinese smartphone makers playing the VFM card, here comes another player from the neighboring nation with a device dubbed as Tecno Camon i.
China-based Transsion Holdings’ TECNO Mobile has launched the Tecno Camon I in India which is also the company’s first offering with an edge-to-edge display having an aspect ratio of 18:9. Apart from that, Tecno Camon I also has a bonus for selfie lovers while the whole package comes with decent hardware specs.
Launched in direct competition to 10.Or G, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Micromax Canvas Infinity and Honor 9 Lite, the Tecno Camon I will have a lot of ground to cover if the device wants to take the brand to new heights.

Tecno Camon I Review (First Impressions)
While Android Nougat, with no word on an Oreo Update, is a definite drawback for the Tecno Camon I, the MediaTek MT6737 chipset can’t match the performance credentials of SD 435 SoC. However, with features like a dedicated microSD card slot, a great front camera which excels in outdoors as well as indoors photography and a dependable battery, Tecno Camon i is indeed a great option if multimedia consumption is what you are looking for.
Moreover, performance credentials are not that bad, as well. Games like Asphalt 8, Mortal Kombat can be played without the worry of any frame drops and multitasking duties are handled with utmost ease, thanks to the 3GB RAM.
In short, while Tecno Camon i isn’t that perfect, it’s no underdog either.
