Technology has come a long way now and this incredible footage of a Tesla predicting a collision and auto braking seconds before it actually happened is more than a proof for this evolution.
Predicting an accident on highway in Netherlands, the car’s autopilot feature took over and gave a warning (beep), saved the Dutch family from catastrophic mishap. The dash cam shows a car overtaking another speeding vehicle which resulted in a collision and the car in front toppled on the highway. Incredibly, when the red colored vehicle initiated the overtaking procedure, the autonomous feature sensed it, moments before triggering the alarm and brakes.

The Autopilot system is uninhibited by obstructive views. By bouncing a signal, the radar can ‘see through’ the car in front and analyze the position of other vehicles on the road.

The autopilot mode was released through an update for Tesla Model S and Model X and the company has been consistently improving the technology since its roll-out. However, Tesla came under the fire of criticism after a 45 year old driven Model S under an 18 wheeler truck in Florida, earlier this year.
