Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has been in the news for a long time now and it’s predecessor’s Redmi Note 4’s success has everything to do with it. For the unknown the Note 4 was and still is, one of the most sold Xiaomi smartphone ever which came with segment-leading features and a very competitive price tag.
But the year has come to an end and so had Redmi Note 4’s lifecycle. Keeping that in mind, the Chinese smartphone maker is almost ready with a deserving successor dubbed as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
Over the last couple of months, we have witnessed many leaks and rumors related to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 which suggested that the new mid-ranger will come with an 18:9 aspect ratio, a smaller display size and a better chipset for increased performance.
Well, if Xiaomi somehow manages to execute its rumored plan at the same price, we might be looking at another winner and a recent leak has given us a great insight as to what we should expect from the upcoming smartphone.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Detailed Specifications (Expected)
- 6-inch (2160 × 1080) 18:9 FHD+ display with 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
- 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU.
- 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage versions, expandable up to 128GB via MicroSD.
- Android 7.1.2 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top
- Fingerprint scanner as the rear panel and Hybrid Dual-SIM support.
- 4000mAh battery with Quick Charge support
While the hardware package seems more than promising, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is also expected to come with a new design theme which will also be backed by an aluminum frame.
As for camera duties, since we have seen many of Xiaomi’s competitors coming up with a dual-camera setup at the rear, we are expecting an update to the 12MP rear and 5MP front shooters.
However, just like the Google Pixel 2, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 might just tweak the current camera setup to control the costs and this will be an interesting scenario to witness for Xiaomi fans, for all we know is, the Chinese maker is in no mood to let go of its dominance, especially in India.
As for the launch details, it is still not clear as to when the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will be revealed, however, considering that the Redmi Note 4 was launched in January 2017, we are expecting its predecessor to launch in the first month of 2018, itself.
Once launched, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will have to face a tough challenge from Honor 7X and soon-to-be-launched Moto G6 Plus.
What do you think of Xiaomi’s next big bet in the mid-budget segment? Will the Redmi Note 5 repeat its predecessor’s success?
