Micromax Canvas Plex Tab has been launched in India at Rs 12,999 and the Indian smartphone manufacturer is looking to bring the Tablet experience into a price segment that has been ruled by some of the most capable smartphones and while it can be seen as a direct competitor of Xiaomi Mi Max 2, when it comes to the spec sheet, Micromax Canvas Plex Tab is somewhat of a larger device but with under-powered specifications.
Micromax Canvas Plex comes with an 8-inch full HD display, DTS Sound for better audio quality, and a one-year free access to Eros Now’s content library. It is targeted at those consumers who like to have a tablet for watching movies and videos, despite having a large screen smartphone, and it will be available through offline retail stores from Friday, September 1.
However, Micromax has played a smart card by not disclosing all the specifications about the Micromax Canvas Plex Tab in order to keep the hype on fore under the device hits Indian stores.
But from what we know about the Micromax Canvas Plex Tab, it is going to be just a multimedia-centric tablet that also supports 4G calling and data services, while having enough of under-the-hood power to satisfy the longing of gaming enthusiasts, but not the full.
Micromax Canvas Plex Tab Specifications include an 8-inch (1024×600) full HD WSVGA IPS display, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT8382W/M SoC, 3GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage with no word on expandable memory, a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front camera for selfies.
For connectivity, Micromax Canvas Plex Tab offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0, USB OTG, GPS, 2G/ 3G, apart from the 4G VoLTE support. The tablet gets its juice from a 4000mAh battery which is rated deliver 9 hours of talking time and around 169 hours standby time. Sadly, Micromax Canvas Plex Tab runs on an age-old Android 5.1 Lollipop.
With all these specifications, the Micromax Canvas Plex Tab, as expected, turns out to be just a device for media consumption but that too, a one that has only 32GB of internal memory.
Should you buy one?
It completely depends on what kind of use are you going to put Micromax Canvas Plex Tab to and if the answer is multi media consumption coupled with some moderate gaming as well as a little of the office work, then Canvas Plex Tab is the device for you.
However, since Indian market has grown extremely inclined towards, big screen smartphones that come with better hardware specification, Micromax Canvas Plex Tab’s success is somewhat uncertain.
On the other hand, the Micromax Canvas Infinity with an unusual 18:9 edge-to-edge screen bezel-less display and various other top features, is priced at just Rs 9,999, which seems like a better proposition if multi media consumption is what you are looking for.
