Our life is so persistent towards such things that can please others that we forget the importance of our own happiness. The strangest part of our life is, we all want to catch the butterfly of happiness, however, never put enough effort to build the beautiful garden that can lure that butterfly in our life.
Being happy isn’t just a state, it’s the sweet fruit of the seed called – little things we do for ourselves. Ask yourself, have you ever been utterly happy when you earned an extra bonus or won a game or topped in class or other such materialistic endeavors where others came and appreciated you? All these things made you joyous and we can bet that cheerful feeling has never lasted enough to make you feel content. So what are the things that make you happy in life?

1. Never Look For Approval.
When you work on something to gain the appreciation of others you don’t put your heart in it and most of all, you are more likely to fail. Don’t look for approval, you simply can’t please everyone in life. In fact, put effort into something that you truly love and excel in it.
The results will make you happier and you will be proud of yourself not for succeeding but for believing in yourself. Just accept that failure and success are the part of life. Do you think Einstein would become world renown physicist if he would have done it all for approval?
2. Keep Your Soul Clean And Stay Away From Negative Thoughts!
There was an experiment conducted to test the power of negativity and positivity. Two jars filled with vegetable were labeled differently, one with I Love You and another with I Hate You. It turns out that vegetables in jar which was labeled I Hate You, started rotting earlier than the other.
All those negative feelings that you keep in your mind are affecting your happiness. Stay away from it, focus on things that make you happy, that help you stay positive in life. Every negative thought will cause stress and that can never add to your happiness.
3. Bad Company.
As much as you need to stay away from negative thoughts, you should always try your best to stay away from negative people. Their thoughts are intense and they leave a longer impression on you which reflects in your life one way or another.
Surround yourself with people who love you for what you are, who appreciate more, who are not afraid to lend a helping hand. These people are one of the things that make you happy as they help you progress in life whereas the negative people always guide you towards regress.
4. Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone.
The first person who wanted to sell coffee knocked 1000 doors and it was 1001 door where he found his first customer. He should have tried a few times and then ditched the thought but he decided to step out of his comfort zone and did something that was impossible for many.
It’s okay to be comfortable in your life, however, stepping out of it can be a life-changing experience for you. You will only enlarge the circle of your comfort zone. If you are not ready to experience new things in life, you will never taste the beauty of it.
5. Don’t Follow The Crowd.
Since the time of our birth, our parents decide that how should we live our life. Their teachings are important, however, following a path which is already taken by million other people will never give your mind the sense of satisfaction.
You need to follow your own path and decide your goals. Lead a life that is controlled by you and only you. Be the master of your own destiny. Other’s opinion can help you figure out the direction but the final decision should be yours and only yours.
6. Never Do A Job That You Don’t Like!
Life is crucial and confusing, probably that why you can never be sure what are the things that make you happy, however, there is a difference between like and love, similarly, there is a difference between requirements and happiness. You may be sitting in a big office, working your ass off to pay daily expenses and bills, however, sooner or later the tepid feeling will take over and you will start hating it.
Take a job that is your passion, something that drives you within, something that challenges you and improves you every day. You will not only excel but also will feel amazing.
7. Leading A Healthy Lifestyle.
Your body is your temple. Things that make you happy can only be achieved if you keep your temple clean and in good condition. Wake up early, sleep enough and most of all eat healthily. An unbalanced lifestyle affects your hormonal cycle and causes stress. You fall ill frequently and feel low all the time.
When your body doesn’t feel good, all of the other things in life become annoying. Save yourself from falling prey to the attractive substandard things and lead a better lifestyle.
Including all these things in your life will be the first step towards things that make you happy. You will feel less burdened and more joyous.
