Friendship is one thing in life that keeps you going, no matter what circumstances you’re stuck in, problems you’re facing and heartbreaks you go through. However, with the course of time, we live with some friends and leave others in this short life of ours. And, this has been one of the most heartbreaking separations ever.
Breaking up with a partner has always hurt people in the worst of ways, and separation with a dear friend results in nothing less. Yet we never really talk about it or understand the gravity of it. Even though our friends are some of the most important people in our lives, we never really consider talking about the feeling of leaving some behind.
Here are 4 reasons why breaking up with a friend is more difficult to handle than breaking up with a partner.
1. You can’t talk to many about it.
Separation with a partner usually results in us constantly cribbing about the feeling with our best friend, but the same just can’t be said about separation with a best friend. At first, no really believes it, and then no one exactly knows how to console the person on this.
2. You don’t enter into this relationship thinking it will end someday.
Admit it, whenever we get into a love relationship with someone, there’s a question in the back of our minds that pushes us to think about the expiry date of all this. However, it never really happens when you make a friend. You never think about how you would live your life if this friend won’t be there with you after some time, that’s something that we never really think about or are prepared for.
3. You don’t know how to explain the situation.
You never really make someone understand your situation or how you’ve been lately. Words fall short, explanations are stretched too much and nothing can be derived back home, that’s how explaining your break up with a friend often looks like.
4. Most of the time you don’t even know if it has ended.
While love-relationships often end with a closure or something of that sort, the same can’t be said about an end to a friendship. A majority of the time, one doesn’t even know when and what and where the end really came and how they should react to it.
Friendship is one of the most beautiful relationships in the world and an end to it never really sits well with a majority of us. Yet, every time when it happens, one can’t believe it to really be like that. And, in the end, there are so many people that we have lost on this journey of life, already.
