These outdoor workout myths are bogus and you should not believe them.
Outdoor workouts are extremely effective but there are a few tips that have been fed to our brain so many times that people now consider them true. First thing first, they are not doing your body any good, before believing them examine the scientific facts.
We are debunking a few workout myths for you so that you don’t put pressure on your body for no reason. Here are 4 such things you should immediately stop believing.
1. STRETCHING PREVENTS INJURIES
This myth has been existing for so long that you might find less-informed fitness experts suggesting you this. Stretching before a good run may seem beneficial but the truth is that it doesn’t have a positive effect on the body. In fact, the doctors suggest you should avoid stretching before games or run, however, warming up the body can be beneficial. You can warm up your body with a brisk walk or slow jog.
2. SOFT SURFACE IS BETTER FOR RUNNING
Many people believe that choosing soft running trail over a paved road is better for running. Why? because softer surfaces are better for joints but actually there is no evidence for that according to the experts. In fact, if you listen to the fitness experts they always suggest to avoid too soft surfaces as they are more irregular and there is a fair chance that you might twist your leg, slip or fall. It could hurt you more.
3. HEAT BURNS MORE CALORIES.
Before you prepare your brain to go and run during a heatwave to burn some extra calories, try and think what it could do to your water levels and skin. According to the experts, it doesn’t makes much of a difference. If you are doing the same amount of work during the fewer heat hours of sun instead blazing hours, you would be burning the same amount of calories except when you opt o jog in scorching heat, which causes a major increase in sweating and also grows your heart rate. You may have a 5% to 10% increase in calorie burn but will definitely drain all of your energy.
4. WATER IS ENOUGH TO HYDRATE YOUR BODY
Water keeps your body hydrated but it totally depends on the amount of run you are planning to do. If you are gonna exhaust yourself by running 5K or more, then, you need extra than of H20. When you run more than 5K and consume only water, the salt and electrolyte levels in your body decreases, so to keep yourself hydrated you also need electrolytes and salts.
Outdoor workouts are great to keep yourself fit but staying healthy is more important.
