Life is tough, isn’t it? We all live in a hell-hole and we try to make it better with every breath. No matter who we are and what we do, one thing that makes us feel good is attention. However, it allows us to feel momentary satisfaction so what keeps our soul, mind, and heart at peace-bay? The sense of self-respect. And how do we achieve it? To start with, earn the respect of others.
Startled? When your fellas, colleagues, family, relatives and for that matter any person who you are in contact with, respects you, it adds a sense of achievement and you accept yourself better. The honor given by others turns you into a responsible person, leading you to exceed even your expectations.
Your words and action have an impact on others. So building a strong personality helps you lead a life that is far satisfactory than others. It is almost impossible to evaluate our self-worth without the honor and respect of others.
But, to earn the respect of people isn’t easy. They don’t throw it just like that. However, including a few habits in your everyday life can make it simpler. And with these habits you will not only feel good about yourself, even people around you get that “feel good vibe” for them.
1. Take A Fair Stand, Even It Goes Against You!
Taking a stand for yourself is good but being fair is a whole another level. Be fair even if it favors you or not. The importance should be given to justice. Irrespective of profit and loss, if you stand firm in your opinion, people would respect your honesty and courage.
2. Rather Than Discouraging, Give People Credit Of Their Hard Work.
In this world, appreciating has become difficult while it’s easy to criticise. You can easily point out someone’s mistake but to praise when they work hard seems tough. Don’t be that person. Give people credit for their good work, you will realize they will listen to you even when you tell them their mistake. Keep a fair optimistic approach to life. It makes people aim higher.
3. Own Your Actions!
It may sound tough but it will help you at every stage of your life. Your attitude towards the situation makes you the kind of person you want to be perceived. Rather than setting yourself on a race track to avoid or run from a situation, be there and accept your faults. Let them be your learning lessons, it will help you grow for better.
4. Thank You And Please Are The Two Important Words In The Dictionary!
We the ego-eating junkies tend to undermine the power of simple words. To say Thank You or Please is not that difficult, say it often. However, make sure you are not selling it so much that the words lose their importance.
5. Respect Others, Even If They Are Less Powerful Than You Or Have A Little To Offer.
Be nice to people, respect others, do it. Not for the sake of getting anything in return. Do it because that’s how it should be. You should never need a reason to be nice. If everyone just started being nice, the world will be so much better than bitter.
6. Listen To Others And Accept Opposing Views.
Lend your ears when others speak. Not only pretend to listen but also, understand what they are saying. When you listen to people, they behave as they actually are as it makes them feel more comfortable. Alsop, make sure you are not rigid in your opinions. There may be contradictory beliefs but be welcome to opposing views. You never know, at times it teaches you a lot. You don’t have to be right or wrong, just understand that everyone has got their own mind and they may don’t agree on your terms.
7. Always Be At Your Best Behaviour And Let Others Feel Good About Themselves.
In life, you can’t stand alone and it takes a lot to build a team of people who stand with you. Make sure that you are treating others well. Fuel them with inspiration, be funny and let them be comfortable around you. Be a team player always.
Sounds like a possible dream huh? There is nothing that can’t be achieved with a little amount of effort and dedication. Start with one and adopt all these habits. These habits will turn you into a better person and you will ultimately earn the respect of others.
Life may not be any simpler, but it will be happier.
