For a car that was launched no more than just a year back, around mid-2016 to be precise, and is still selling like hotcakes, it pays to be Tata Tiago in the current structure of the Indian Market. Truth be told, while 2020 has been such a terrible pandemic-marred year, it doesn’t seem a bit that it has done anything ulterior to harm the reputation and sales figures of one of India’s most solid carmakers.
Call it good fortune, or call it a certain level of dependability that Tata Tiago offers! Truth is, these are good times for one of India’s most respected names in the vastly competitive automotive landscape.
Having said that, it helps to know where one thought that the likes of Hyundai were the only hitmakers in the post-pandemic era, with Creta selling in huge numbers, it appears that another car is emerging as a hot-seller.
It’s one of the most popular subcompact cars running on the Indian roads.
Tata Tiago was launched for a base price of INR 5.4 Lakh and that hasn’t changed around a year from October 2019. And especially in the current year, the hot-selling figures of the brand continue to generate much vaunted attention all around.
But is that all? Perhaps, suffice to state that the biggest piece of the news emanating from the house of Tata Motors is that the venerable carmaker has rolled out the 3,00,000th Tiago from Sanand plant. To think of 1,00,000 cars being produced in a pandemic-hit year is big and then to have thrice as many signals a hefty figure- is it not?
In fact, Tata Tiago also came out with a slightly uplifted version of the celebrated model, launching Tiago Wizz in October, 2019. Then, what also made it popular was that the noted four-wheeler was the first product to be launched under the company’s IMPACT design philosophy.
The price point, to this date, remains one of the key features of the brand and attracts massive attention from first-time buyers.
But having said that, what are the other important or salient features that are ensuring that the Tiago commands a popular presence in current headlines?
A report published on Livemint.com had to offer some inputs and its worthy to note the following:
Tiago has manages to get a four-star rating from Global NCap safety tests and its feature list includes dual air bags, rear parking assist and brake force distribution.
Earlier in 2020, Tata launched the BS 6 version of the Tiago which is part of its ‘New Forever’ range. Tiago 2020 gets slight design upgrades and the car is available in both manual and AMT options. Under the hood is the new Revotron 1.2 l BS 6 petrol engine.
With all of these additions, Tiago is claimed by many to offer a whole lot of bang for the buck and Tata is now looking at furthering the car’s popularity among first-time buyers.

One of the best selling color schemes of the Tiago, even to this date, is the titanium grey scheme. But in the months to come, it is expected that a famous combination of groundbreaking design and driving dynamics will only raise the game further for the popular drive in India.
