Child Labour is still a deep-rooted problem in today’s world and while everyone is trying their best to save childhoods at the verge of being lost, there are still 168 million children who have to work, rather than studying. And, no matter how much we want to avoid the issue or don’t talk about it, the fact is that Child Labour is still practiced.
12th of June every year is observed as World Day Against Child Labour, which was first introduced in 2002 by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the United Nations body which regulates the world of work. The day was introduced to bring attention towards the Child Labour issue and to bring the people together to fight against it.
This World Day Against Child Labour, Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation came out with a new video, titled – ‘Wake Up’. This beautiful short video runs on parallel storylines and tells the story of two different characters and their start of the day. As much similar their habits are, their lives are certainly worlds apart. While one has a much more privileged life, the other one seems to come from a place where they have to work extremely hard to make ends meet. However, one thing should be noted here, education is not just for the privileged one. Everyone has an equal right to education in order to make their future more bright.
Wake Up: Watch The Video Here:
As said in the video, every day 168 million kids wake up to child labour and it’s only we and others like us, who can stop that from happening.
