Emma Morano, the oldest living person on earth, died on Saturday at the age of 117. Morana was an Italian and said to be the last surviving person born in the 1800s, which is fascinating in itself. She was one of the five oldest people in the recorded history.
However, after her demise, someone had to take her place in becoming the oldest living person on earth. This title was designated to Violet Brown, a Jamaican woman, who is also 117 years old. She is now the world’s oldest registered person.
Jamaica President Andrew Holness tweeted and congratulated Violet on being the oldest person ever. Violet Brown was born on 10th March 1900 and recently turned 117.

After Violet Brown, the second and third oldest people in the world, are two Japanese Women, Nabi Tajima and Chiyo Miyako, respectively.
Nabi Tajima was born on 4th August 1900, whereas Chiyo Miyako was born on 2nd May 1901. Following them, Ana Vela, 115, is the fourth oldest person in the world. Vela, a Spanish woman, was born on 29th October 1901 and is also the oldest European in the world.
The record of this, is kept by Gerontology Research Group (GRG) under the GRG World Supercentenarian Ranking List. In the complete list of 42 people, the youngest was an 111-year-old, there was only a single male and 41 females. This vast difference was once solved by the researchers who found out that women live longer than men because of their stronger immune system. As per the researchers, females are born with an inner strength which works more efficiently for women than it does for men.
