Clearly, Theresa May isn’t the most popular Briton alive in today’s day and age. She might be the Prime Minister of perhaps one of the greatest empires in the modern world.
But Theresa May clearly lacks the support and appreciation that Britain’s public would have wanted to extend to someone they would have appreciated instead of the current ruling prime minister.
That said, just hours ago, something so alarming transpired in Britain that it would certainly make Theresa May thank the MI 5, Britain’s leading security service.
According to reports, a terror attack aimed at taking out Theresa May has been foiled. Apparently, secret service MI5 are behind containing the situation. But safeguarding Theresa May in the event of unforeseen danger isn’t something spectacularly new for Britain’s security services. It is the latest in a series of terror plots that police and MI5 have foiled this year.
That is perhaps the reason why the head of MI5, Andrew Parker has been amidst the news of lately. Revealing to the media, it became known that an extreme Islamist suicide plot was being planned against 10 Downing Street.
The perpetrators had full out plans to launch some sort of improvised explosive device at Downing Street and amidst all the unfolding drama, they had hoped to eliminate Theresa May.
But now it has come to public light that resulting from an effort that was orchestrated since the past few weeks, together with the revered Scotland Yard, MI5 and West Midlands Police were able to successfully foil what might have been a dreadful, condemnable episode, something that would’ve hurt Britain a great deal.
But this isn’t just a standalone incident that stood the chance the lead Britain down the path of a catastrophe. Earlier this year, one Khalid Masood drove a car at pedestrians on Westminster Bridge and stabbed a policeman guarding Parliament. As a result, 5 people died. Later, another incident would send shivers down Britain’s spine with as many as 22 people dying when another suicide bomber carried out an attack at a full-packed concert at the neighbouring city of Manchester.
But clearly, the biggest silver lining in the sky is the number of terror-related incidents that MI5 have successfully foiled. Starting last year to this moment, around 9 threatening, deadly incidents have been averted with great skill and daring by arguably one of the most celebrated internal security services in the world. For this and more- the people of Britain, not least the prime minister herself must congratulate those who stay ever vigilant in the line of duty.
