Over the course of the weekend, Canada hosted the G7 Summit in which the world leaders came together to discuss some important things about the world and its people and about their respective countries. Apart from this, something very major came to the forefront and it was not at all pretty.
US President Donald Trump and Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ended the North American buddy comedy. The two took different routes on certain things and this ended with a series of tweets from President Trump over how dishonest and weak Prime Minister Trudeau was with his statement.
Trump signed an announcement in March adding a tariff on steel and aluminum from all other countries. But Canada, along with other U.S. allies, was given a temporary exemption. On June 1, that exemption expired and Canada also fell subject to these 25 and 10 percent tariffs on these metals. PM Trudeau was pushed to respond to this decision due to the political pressure that surrounded him.
After the summit, Trudeau gave a press conference in which he announced retaliatory tariffs and also said,”Canadians are polite, we’re reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around.”
This led to a series of tweets from Donald Trump.

Apart from this drama, Donald Trump also threatened to pull back its endorsement of the summit’s communiqué and then left the summit early to reach Singapore in order to have the historic meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
But all of that has been foreshadowed by one particular picture posted by Angela Merkel. The pictures showed Merkel staring down Donald Trump and it even gives a hint of the heightened tension in that room.

Also seen in the photograph is British Prime Minister Theresa May, Italy’s Giuseppe Conte, French President Emmanuel Macron, US national security adviser John Bolton and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
This particular picture caught the interest of many on social media who went on to say a variety of things about this picture and this has resulted in a huge meme-fest. Check out all the amazing reactions to this one picture.
