After America, France is undergoing something major in their country. The Presidential Election is soon to arrive in the country and while there are more than a dozen contesting in it, the people want someone else. They love, just like the rest of the world, Former U.S. President Barack Obama and want him to join the run for President of France, even though he is American.
Many are actually campaigning for him with red, white and blue posters with the slogan “Oui on peut”, which is French for “Yes we can”. In an interview with the New York Times, the campaigners said that they do not identify themselves with the current candidates and are actually worried about Marine Le Pen’s popularity right now.
The whole thing started as a joke between a couple of friends over the course of few drinks, however, their petition does have a whopping 43,000 signatures.
One of the organisers said that they identify themselves with Obama’s thought process of uniting the people and making them work together. They also consider that he has the best C.V in the world for this job.
The goal of the organisers is to have at least 1 million signatures by 15th March, however, it is completely impossible for Obama to contest the election even with that much support.
As per the guidelines to contest France’s Presidential Election, the candidate should be 18 or above, part of the French electorate and must gather signatures of at least 500 elected official. The most important, they have to be French.
Just like France, a majority of the world would love to have a President like Barack Obama, however, some dreams would only remain dreams.
