The Forbes annual list of World’s highest paid celebs is out and the top spot might surprise everyone out there. However, more interesting than that is the occurrence of Indian celebs on the list. Yes, a total of 3 celebrities from India made it to the list and their names would definitely not come out as a surprise for you all.
Bollywood’s leading actors Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar made it to the list of 100 World’s Highest-Paid Celebrities Of 2017. While Shah Rukh Khan leads all three in the 65th position with $38 million earnings, Salman Khan is at the 71st spot with a total of $37 million and Akshay Kumar comes at 80th position with $35.5 million earnings. However, there’s one name which graced the list in the 2016 list and is not in this year’s edition – Amitabh Bachchan.
The actual calculation is done by the work done from June 2016 to June 2017 and since then, Shah Rukh came with Raees that gathered some 150 crores, worldwide. Salman Khan’s Sultan also saw a mega box office success and everyone knows the speed at which Akshay Kumar comes out with films. 2016 came out to be Akshay’s year (if counted on the basis of most films done) and rightly so his films also gave him the mullahs he needed to be on this list. Forbes also takes account of all the endorsements and other business deals done in a year.
But, let’s start with the top spot which is the surprising element on this list. P Diddy, also known as Puff Daddy, also known as Sean Combs, tops the list with an estimated $130 millions in his pocket. A large part of this money comes out by Diddy’s decision to sell one-third of his Sean John clothing line for an estimated $70 million. Along with this, Diddy also has a lucrative Diageo Ciroc vodka partnership and his Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour, which puts him on the top. Queen Bee, Beyoncé, is the second highest paid celebrity of 2017 with a total of $105 million and this number is the second-largest of her career. A large part of this comes from her Formation World Tour, as well as the release of Lemonade.
J.K. Rowling is back on the list and this time she bags the third position with $95 million and putting Drake on the 4th spot with $94 million.
Together, the world’s 100 highest-paid celebrities banked a cumulative $5.15 billion pretax during our June 2016 to June 2017 scoring period.
