Truth be told, first things first: there’s nothing cool about the fact that February 2021 is kind of warm, isn’t it?
Now here’s a fact. The biting cold days of the wintry north in the country are over. As a matter of fact, they seem, given the way the weather is warming up with each passing day, long over. Done and dusted, I tell you!
Not long after January’s cold and moist climate left us a bit shaky, still hanging out in the woolens, wearing layers of clothing that February arrived to shake up things a little bit.
And here’s what you may have noted. As with date after date, the calendar moved on in what happens to be just the second month of the brand new year, we kept discarding the extra layers of wintry clothing we’d serenaded ourselves with.
Perhaps it might not even be incorrect to state that this has been one of the toughest February months we’ve tackled in a while. So what are the facts? In fact, could it be that this is just conjecture and all that make belief.
Have we progressed into accepting summers a bit too early or are we undermining the change that February usually brings along?
What does the news have to say?
Now this may take you by a bit of a surprise. It appears that where it comes to the national capital Delhi, then February has been nothing shy than a warm month. You know of the likes one comes to experience in summer months.
And even as the peak summers are still at some distance, it must be maintained in no uncertain terms that February in Delhi has been warmer than what one may have come to imagine.
So how did this happen? Just how did the month of February in Delhi get sweaty? Surely, this wasn’t on the cards or was it?
And frankly speaking, there’s no window of doubting facts the way they are. News updates point to a simple unchangeable fact that this has been one of the warmest February months ever witnessed in Delhi.
Truly speaking, it’s time to ask oneself a simple question. Let’s say half a decade back, say somewhere toward 2015 or 2016, was February usually this warm?
Did we get into our T-shirts, minus socks or any kind of woolens not long after the break of dawn? Just how were things back then? Weren’t we still, where it came to February in Delhi, amid a jacket or a sweater in the least? And forget not about hanging out with the warm cup of tea?
Surely, the time of adorning a muffler or a warm hat is evident during peak winters, for instance the month of December. But didn’t we still keep up with woolen clothing this time around in February in places like Delhi?
Now here’s what news has confirmed about February in Delhi this time around in 2021, the way the new year has brought it:
After a chilly winter, Delhi is now experiencing record high temperatures in the month of February. The national capital witnessed its warmest day in as many as 15 years on Wednesday (February 24) as the temperatures reached nearly 34 degrees Celsius in some parts of the city. The maximum temperature in the city was seven degrees above normal.

Though the base weather of Delhi recorded at the Safdarjung weather station was 32.5 degrees Celsius, the mercury hit as high as 33.9 degrees Celsius at the sports complex station. It is keeping in trend with extreme weather events witnessed in the capital city in recent times.
Surely then, it must be confirmed that the cold wave has long since deserted us and it’s one of the warmest that February in Delhi has been!
