Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum-opus, Padmavat, will finally see the light of the day on January 25th, 2018. Something that most of us lost our hopes for, has finally been cleared by the Censor Board and India just can’t stop celebrating the news.
After all, the makers had to go through so much, in order to make and simply release this movie. From physical assault to death threats to even the change in title from ‘Padmavati’ to ‘Padmavat’, attributing to the creative source behind the movie which was a “fictional” poem by Sufi Poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi, there was so much that the team had to face before getting a green flag.
However, with a change in the title, Padmavat was also surrounded by the news of some 300 cuts being imposed by the Censor Board, which is an absolute bunk. CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi finally cleared the air around the story and stated that there are just five modifications asked by the Censor Board, to which the makers have agreed.
“The makers have submitted the final film with agreed five modifications which have already been communicated and a U/A certificate has been given to the film. CBFC’s process is complete and any further news about cuts is absolutely untrue. Let’s refrain from utilising CBFC’s name unnecessarily,” Joshi told IANS.
But even this clarification was not fulfilling for the people on Twitter from cracking some really hilarious jokes about the situation. This is how they reacted.

Well if you look at it, one can almost see this happening in India, a movie getting through some 300 cuts in order to get released, which is why many didn’t even second-checked the information.
Even after so many altercations, Padmavat will not be released in Rajasthan, yes you read that right, the Rajasthani pride will not settle for anything less than a ban on the movie. Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje is dead against the release of the film in the state. “Rani Padmini’s martyrdom and sacrifice were an honour for everyone. She was more than just history,” her statement read.
Along with Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Goa might even join the ban brigade on Padmavat. In short, most of the BJP ruled states seems to be opposing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s release.
