You just came back from an adventurous trip where you’ve seen the unknown realities of the world and now your life has changed, you’ve changed as a person but everything around you is entirely same. Sounds similar? Well, worry not, many travellers feel the exact way like you do about the post travel depression or blues, as some call it. It is the feeling of travelling that never leaves your side and keeps on nagging about how a regular day in office is no longer your cup of tea.
Everyone goes through it, literally, everyone I know has been in a dilemma of what to do after you are back from a fantastic journey. These post-travel blues have been torturing people since the dawn of time and no one gets the hang of it, until and unless they themselves have suffered from it. No one loves reality, no one like to gulp down the fact of a boring and simple life that they are living, a life where you work and strive from 9-5 on weekdays in the hope of having a weekend soon, only to waste it by simply couching. That reality my friend, has been a pain for many and extremely hard to take in after travelling to the unknown and picturesque lands.
However, you can deal with your post-travel blues by simply doing certain things that would keep you moving until you travel again.
1. Start Planning For Another Adventure
The best way to overcome the horrendous post-travel depression is by gearing up for your next travel adventure. Start by simple steps of deciding where you have to go, what you want to do over there, book tickets in advance and start countdown for the final day of leaving. This would help you in reaching a state much more comfortable to be in when you don’t feel like yourself in your own room.
2. Documenting Your Travel As Well As Sorting Out Your Travel Memories
Try to document your travel as much as possible because it is the only thing that would help you in remembering the exact emotion that you felt when you were on top of that mountain or went past that lake which had all beautiful shades of blue and green in it. You should also sort your travel memories, like pictures and videos to calm those stringent nerves. Looking back at your travel memories will always bring a smile on your face and give you an assurance of how much you want to be back on the road.
3. Bring A Change In Your Boring Way Of Living Life
Start living life back home in a much more adventurous way than what you usually do. Simply couching all weekend is not going to be helpful, start going out and explore new things in your own city. It is easy and frantic at the same time, you can simply hang out with your friends or try to meet new people, and maybe you would find your next travel buddy along the way.
4. Allocate Days In Advance For Resting
Coming back from an adventure and instantly drowning yourself in that normal life of yours, is not going to do any good to you. Try to allocate a certain number of days in advance for resting, and for slowly and steadily slipping back in your office shoes and life. Rest, meet your friends, exchange your experiences and spend some more days with yourself. The best thing can be to get back home before the start of the weekend so that you have 2-3 days with you for soothing your reality back.
All these tricks and tips have worked for many, and they might work for you too and all those post-travel blues would soon go away. But always remember, they are here because you had an amazing adventure and they are a result of something which would linger on to you for much longer time. However, you don’t need to be scared of them, because anyone would do anything to certainly get them in the first place.
