Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus, the two smartphones that we are anxiously waiting to launch, have been subjected to various leaks and rumors in the last couple of days. Some say that these will be the best offerings from Xiaomi while other even go to the extent saying that Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be buried in the deepest of graves once the Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus are launched.
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has been delaying the launch of Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus for quite some time now due to various reasons, one of the prominent ones being the Snapdragon 835 SoC which Samsung is not willing to provide until the launch of Galaxy S8 and S8+. This might be a smart move for the Korean company as Xiaomi is famous for coming up with flagship killers and by the time Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus are launched, Samsung would already be touching new heights with its next premium offering.
However, according to technology news website GizChina, Xiaomi Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus are all set to be unveiled on 11th April and will be launched in India by the end of the month. That’s not all, both these smartphones will be launched in three variants and will be (surprisingly) backed by the Snapdragon 835 SoC under the hood. The pricing details have also been leaked by the website.
Xiaomi Mi 6
Mi 6 is rumored to sport 5.15-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, 3000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0. The smartphone will be available in three variants i.e. 4GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB, priced at CNY 1,999 (Rs 19,000), CNY 2,299 (Rs 21,800) and CNY 2,699 (Rs. 25,600), respectively.
Xiaomi Mi6 Plus
The bigger offering is rumored to come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0. Xiaomi Mi6 Plus will also be launched in three variants i.e. 4GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB priced at CNY 2,599 (Rs 24,700 approx), CNY 2,999 (Rs 28,500 approx) and CNY 3,499 (Rs 33,200 approx), respectively.
While Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to feature a 2K OLED display with dual curved edges (ala Samsung’s S7 edge), it’s bigger brother, Xiaomi Mi6 Plus, is rumored come with a 4K AMOLED unit, which somehow looks impossible.
A dual camera setup in both the smartphone is almost certain and according to the recent leaks, Xiaomi Mi 6 might carry on the design of its predecessor Mi 5, while the Plus variant is expected to come with a complete overhaul.
Moreover, if Xiaomi Mi6 Plus’ 8GB/256GB comes into reality, it will become the second smartphone ever to come with 8GB of RAM after Asus Zenfone AR.
Everything said and done, there hasn’t been an official statement from the company itself but one thing is for sure, 2017 will be an exciting year for Xiaomi fans as the company has confirmed that they are working on the Mi Mix 2 and the smartphone will be launched later this year.
