Smartron has been launched in India at Rs 12,999 by the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar backed IoT startup and it is all set to take on the ever so competitive mid-budget segment. Smartron will go against the likes of Moto G, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo Z2 plus.

Last year, we witnessed the launch of from Smartron that was one of the best offerings of that time but it’s price tag never clicked with the buyers, despite the backing of Sachin Tendulkar branding. This time, with the, where srt stands for Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, Smartron has played out aggressively big and the device doesn’t look anything less than a benchmark, considering the competition.

What’s Good in Smartron

  • 1.8GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC coupled with Adreno 510 GPU, 4GB of RAM and unlimited external cloud storage is one of the best performance packages, you can ask for, in this category.
  • Performance is optimal on Smartron and what makes this device a performer is the fact that it handles gaming and multitasking with ease.
  • The 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080) fullHD IPS LCD display is bright, offers good color balance and great outdoor visibility.
  • Although the 13MP camera is not the best among the competition, it does the job for your social media profiles.
  • Android 7.1.1 Nougat is a welcomed feature in this category.
  • Smartron comes with a removable back panel with a host of special edition back covers.

What’s Not So Good in Smartron

  • Smartron doesn’t come with a uni-metal body and it may take some time to digest this.
  • The 5MP front camera is not that great rather it’s just a gimmick, so do not expect much out of it. This clearly shows that the IoT startup has focused on making Smartron a performance oriented smartphone rather than a camera centric one.
  • Although users have an option of unlimited cloud storage, an additional microSD support could have been better.
  • 3000mAh battery with quick charge 2.0 support just manages to provide juice for a day. But if you are a heavy user, you might end up using the charger twice in a single day.

The Smartron is a performance oriented smartphone and is for those who are looking for a near stock android experience. Performance and good user experience go side by side in this smartphone. However, Camera is not the strongest point of Smartron but it does the job.

Consumers looking for a great performer should have Smartron on their list but those looking for selfie experience, should look somewhere else.

And, as for Sachin Tendulkar Fans, this is the closest thing you can buy that is inspired by the ‘God of Cricket’ himself.
