HTC One X10 is one of the highly anticipated devices from the Taiwanese company but it hasn’t been made official yet. With MWC 2017 just around the corner, we expect HTC to unveil the smartphone in Barcelona.
2017 has been all about anticipated launches and drooling leaks. There is not even a single company that hasn’t been subjected to rumors about the ‘next big thing’ and since the HTC U Ultra was launched last month, all the focus has now been shifted to the One X9’s successor.
While HTC U Ultra is experiencing a somewhat average response, the company’s attempt at entering the mid-budget smartphone segment last year, HTC One X9 was applauded by many. Even though it lacked (not majorly) in the performance quotient as companies like Xiaomi, Lenovo and Gionee were giving more for the buck, One X9 always stood out with its premium veil.
Wanting to get things right, the company has been working on the One X10 for quite some time now, and recent leaks suggest that they have done some major changes in the looks.
The leaked image of HTC One X10 features a fingerprint scanner at the back and by the looks of it, it might come with a full-metal body too. The camera module has been shifted to the center, just above the fingerprint scanner and a flash placed right next to it. Though the leaks didn’t suggest any under the hood specs, we expect HTC One X10 to start where One 9X ended.
HTC One 9X has a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. On the camera front, the One X9 Dual-SIM version is equipped with a 13MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, 4K video recording capabilities and optical image stabilization (OIS). Up front, there is a 5MP ultra-pixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, capable of full HD (1080p) video recording. Backed by a 3,000mAh battery, it comes with 4G LTE support, NFC, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. On the software front, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow wrapped under HTC Sense UI.
Coming back to HTC 10X, we expect it to come at least with Snapdragon Processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage since it is going to come with a price-tag of around Rs 20,000. However, the leaks suggest that it will be powered by a 1.9GHz MediaTek Helio MT6755 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which doesn’t look like an upgrade over HTC One 9X, rather these are the same specs of an HTC Desire 10 Pro. It is expected to be powered by Android Nougat 7.0 and camera capabilities are also expected to be upgraded substantially.
Earlier leaks have hinted that HTC X10 will come with a 16MP rear camera and an updated 8MP unit in the front. We haven’t been able to get an update about battery backup but if, HTC wants to go head to head with the likes of Lenovo Z2, then the 3000mAh cell and these ordinary specs should be done away with.
If these specs turn out to be true, then One X10 will be another failed attempt from HTC because this year, the competition has been upped by many players and people now have better options for more value-for-money devices.
However, many have a soft corner for companies like Nokia and HTC, who are eyeing a comeback in the competition and we hope that at MWC 2017, these companies come up with a lineup that defines why they were the former rulers of the Industry.
