Asus is gearing up to unveil its Asus ZenFone 5 series at the Mobile World Congress 2018 and has already sent out media invites for an event on February 28 (12 am IST). Just like the past couple of years, there will be a plethora of launches from the Taiwanese company.
Coming to the Asus ZenFone 5 series, the smartphone manufacturer is expected to launch the Zenfone Max Pro (M1), Zenfone 5z, Asus ZenFone 5 and the Asus ZenFone 5 Lite. All of these smartphones are touted to come with segment-leading internals with a major focus on camera capabilities.
That said, it’s the Asus ZenFone 5 Lite which has managed to gather the most of the spotlight due to its quad camera-setup and a budgeted price tag to go against the likes of Mi A1, Honor 9i, and the Moto G5S Plus.
Now, Evan Blass, a serial tipster, has posted an image of the Asus ZenFone 5 Lite while also confirming the details of its quad camera-setup, which means that the smartphone will come with two cameras at the front and two at the back.
The images clearly show a vertical dual camera setup at the rear and two selfie sensors on the front panel. Asus ZenFone 5 Lite also appears to have a front-facing LED flash, alongside a dual-LED flash on the rear panel.

According to Evan Blass, Asus ZenFone 5 Lite will come with a 20MP+20MP selfie and 16MP+16MP rear cameras but the proposition seems hard to digest as Asus might not be able to add two 20MP sensors along with two 16MP sensors on a Lite smartphone with a budgeted price tag.
On the other hand, a 20MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary camera at the front, and a 16MP primary sensor at the rear coupled with a 2MP secondary camera seems way more practical where the secondary sensor can act as a depth sensor to add depth to the images, just like the camera module seen on Honor 9i.
While the rear camera module is expected to come with a 120-degree wide-angle lens, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor can be seen in the images, as well.
Blass also reported that the smartphone would available in three color variants, namely Midnight Black, Rouge Red and Moonlight White. The ZenFone 5 Lite is also expected to sport a 5.7 or 6.0 inch (1080×2160) full-HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

While there has been no word on ZenFone 5 Lite’s other specifications, since the Zenfone 5z is expected to come with SD 845 and the ZenFone 5 could sport the Snapdragon 636 SoC, it is safe to assume that Asus will opt for Snapdragon 450 chipset for the ‘Lite’ smartphone, which is a decent processor, as far as the segment is concerned.
Apart from that, ZenFone 5 Lite is expected to come with 3GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage and a 3300mAh battery to power the device. As far as the pricing is concerned, it could be priced under the Rs 20,000-mark in order to compete in a cruel segment ruled by ‘Value For Money’ smartphones.
