On its 18th birthday (eligible to vote eh!), Google announced that it will launch five new products in India to enhance the experience of Indian users. According to their statement, ‘three new users come online every second, making India the second largest Internet consumer in the world’.
Sunder Pichai, the CEO of this tech giant said ‘Over the years, we have learnt that, India serves as a good medium to develop and modify our products for the Global market due to the number of reviews we get from our users.’
He also stated that, India which has a population of over One Billion, has more than 800 million users living in rural areas having little or no access to internet. So, the new product lineup will focus on the availability of internet services and making their products compatible with 2G networks also.
Google is betting big on the Indian market and that is obvious from the following product lineup:
1. Youtube Go
India still has a large number of 2G network users and keeping this in mind, Google has launched this app which will be able to load or play Youtube videos with any kind of network availability. Users will also be able to share their videos with others.
2. Google Stations
Google announced its partnership with Indian Railways and RailTech last September to make free Wi-Fi available at 400 stations, out of which, 53 networks have already been established providing its services to around 15000 Indians daily. Google plans to take this tally to an incredible 100 stations and that too within this year only.
3. Allo: The Google Assistant In Hindi
Google recently launched this messenger app to tackle WhatsApp and the reviews that the company is getting are rather good. The main feature of the Google Assistant is, that it provides you with a virtual being to converse and take part in your conversations that to with giving suggestions for the next reply. The app is regarded as the best messenger according to the current market situation. So, the company thought of increasing its popularity and here it is with the Hindi version.
4. Chrome and Google Play: With better connectivity
These two products are one of the most used apps by Google till now, but, due to the low network situations and most users still on 2G network, the company decided to launch another version of these apps which are capable of operating at lower bandwidths. This step will surely strengthen the roots of this already established company.
5. Google News: With Light Mode
Continuing its focus on the low bandwidth users, the company has relaunched its Google News And Weather app with a light mode function. This will allow the users to operate this app in low network conditions as the light mode uses only one-third of the earlier used data.
With all these initiative by this tech giant, one thing is clear that Google has finally felt the need to attract more Indian customers as the country provides the second largest consumer base to the company.
This step will further trigger the investments of other companies in the Indian market, making the country one of the biggest investment centers in the world.
