Moving up on the ladder of alphabets, now android has reached a new milestone. Yes, exactly your are right. Google has launched a new version of it’s in-house operating system “Android”. Letter ‘L’ was assigned to Android “Lollipop” and now it’s turn for letter ‘M’ , which is assigned to the latest operating system “Marshmallow”.
Announced at Google I/O 2015, Marshmallow brings a lots of new features to adorn your smartphones and tablets. Hopefully final Android 6.0 Marshmallow release date would be in the autumn like Android 5.0 Lollipop. After which it would be available for smartphones and tablets as an upgrade.
New features and improvements which marshmallow brings with it are listed below:
Boot Animation: Google brings change in boot animation of android 6.0 . New animation includes four moving circles changing their form to finally form android logo. The new boot animation looks like the below GIF image.
Battery Life Augmentation: Now a days, before purchasing, every customer’s primary concern is the battery life of the smartphone. Android M, comes with the improvement in the technology that help to increase the battery life of the phone. Doze is the new feature that aims to get rid of this problem to a certain extent. Doze reduces the power consumption of the phone when in idle state. Google claims to achieve a battery life that is double, using Doze on Nexus 9.
Google NOW ON TAP: One of the major key of Android 6.0 is “Google Now On Tap” said to be the advance version of digital assistant. Till Android 5.0 Google now is available via search app, but Marshmallow will make it extensive. With this Google is now able to offer information by just tapping any section or text on the screen and holding the home button.
Native Fingerprint Support: Many smartphone manufacturers are offering fingerprint sensor with their smartphones to fulfill increasing demand of security. In Android 6.0, google includes native fingerprint support. It can be used in place of pattern,pin and text passwords to unlock the phone lock, apps and to authorize payments using Android Pay.
Android Pay: Android 6.0 Marshmallow will introduce “Android Pay”, a payment system based on NFC. Many companies including Apple and Samsung already using their payment systems Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. It will be available for android 4.4 and higher. Android pay is based on Google wallet that let you store your credit card information at one place. Whenever you’ll have to make any transaction, you would be able to make an authenticated transaction using virtual card number or your fingerprint.
