Yesterday, Yogeshwar Dutt tweeted that his bronze Olympic medal has been upgraded to silver and the whole nation was thrilled to hear this news.
The upgrade was happening because the 2012 silver medallist, Besik Kudukhov from Russia failed the dope test and tested positive for a banned substance.
Kudukhov died in 2013 in a car accident. His urine samples were retested after his death in which he was tested positive. His positive doping result was the reason behind the automatic medal upgrade for Yogeshwar Dutt.
But Yogeshwar did something that a good sportsman would do. He out of his generosity and sportsman spirit said that he wants that the family of Russian wrestler Kudukhov, keep his silver medal as it would be respectful to them.
अगर हो सके तो ये मेडल उन्ही के पास रहने दिया जाए। उनके परिवार के लिए भी सम्मानपूर्ण होगा। मेरे लिए मानवीय संवेदना सर्वोपरि है।

That is not it, he even praised the Russian wrestler and said that he was a fantastic wrestler.
Besik Kudukhov शानदार पहलवान थे। उनका मृत्यु के पश्चात dope test में fail हो जाना दुखद हैं। मैं खिलाड़ी के रूप में उनका सम्मान करता हूँ।

Yogeshwar’s gesture shows that he is not only a true sportsman but also a gem of a person as it takes a lot to be selfless and say no to something that actually belongs to you. He did not even have to fight to win this silver but on the top of that, he does not only wish Kudokhov’s family to keep the medal but also spoke only good thing about him.
Sir, we bow down to your humanity.
