Dwayne Smith, the retired West Indian allrounder famous for his aggressive and powerful ball smashing batting and a dependable bowler, recently achieved another milestone in his career by scoring a 31 ball century during a Hong Kong T20 Blitz 2017 game.
City Kaitak gave a humongous target of 200 runs to Kowloon Cantons but after conceding 35 runs in just three overs, Dwayne Smith entered the stadium with a purpose. In the very first over, Smith scored 28 runs and sounded the holler of his presence and the destruction to come.
By the end of the game, Cantons had 204 runs on the scoreboard with the help of Dwayne Smith’s 121 off 40 deliveries and a century that came in just 31 balls, including 13 maximums and 7 fours.
This innings by Dwayne Smith left us thinking that what would have been the scenario if this West Indian would have played some more Cricket with the likes of Chris Gayle. Interesting the fastest T20s Century came from the bat of Chris Gayle during an Indian Premier League match and there is only a single delivery that is holding Dwayne Smith at the second position because the former scored his ton in 30 balls.
Whatever the case might be, Cricketers like Dwayne and a knock like this are what a Cricket enthusiast looks forward to, and if you are anything like me, you can’t help but watching this innings over and over again.
