India’s hopes of ending the Rio Olympics 2016 on a high note crashed down on Sunday when celebrated wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt got kicked out in the first bout.
He lost 3-0 in the qualifying round of the 65kg wrestling freestyle event to Mongolia’s Ganzorigiin Mandakhnaran.
Yogeshwar, who is a bronze medal winner at London 2012, had the burden of high expectations from the countrymen.
However, he couldn’t rise to the occasion and failed to sign off his Olympic career with a medal.
India’s hopes for repechage also dashed out with Mongolian wrestler’s defeat in the quarterfinals.
As the performance of Yogeshwar Dutty was not up to the mark and it shocked many including the people on social media.
Though, the Twitterati were divided over his defeat at initial stage. While some backed him, others came down heavily on the wrestler’s disappointing performance.
Quite a tame performance that from #YogeshwarDutt This was one of the biggest medal hopes in #Rio2016 goin down in smoke. #wrestling #IND 🙁
