Emiliano Alfaro scored twice for NorthEast United FC as they beat FC Goa by 2-0 in Guwahati on Tuesday, registering their second consecutive win in ISL 2016 and that too at the same venue. NorthEast United won their opening match against Kerala Blaster on 1st October at their home ground.
Laxmikanth Kattimani, the FC Goa played a pivotal role in helping NorthEast FC their 1st goal in the 20th minute of the game. Kattimani hurriedly tried to clear the ball through a pass to Lucio, but the ball rebounded after touching Alfaro’s belly and went directly into the goalpost.

The FC Goa had their first big chance in the game just before the end of first-half when Mandar Rao Dessai tricked Reagan Singh and dribbled from the left to pass it to Jofre who aimed for the goalpost but the ball went directly into the hands of Paul’s hands.
In the 58th minute, Paul got busy again. Mandar’s shot from inside the box was somehow saved by him but from the left side, Trindade followed up with another effort. Paul stretched to the fullest and managed to keep the ball out of the post.
The Home crowd got another reason to cheer when in the 62nd minute Holicharan Narzary flicked the ball sideways to enter into the opposition’s defense. Alfaro took advantage of the situation and send the ball into the nets through the legs of goalkeeper Kattimani taking the lead to 2-0.

NorthEast United FC got another chance in the 79th minute when Nicolas Velez entered the penalty box and chose to pass the ball to an unmarked Alfaro but Raju blocked his shot. This also prevented Alfaro from scoring a hat-trick against FC Goa.
The win has taken NorthEast United FC to the top of Indian Super League tally.
