Marcelo Vieira da Silva Júnior, the Real Madrid left back and a Brazilian national team player, was subjected to a huge criticism as he wished his Brazilian teammate Neymar Junior rather than his club colleague, Cristiano Ronaldo on 5th February on Instagram.
Interestingly, Ronaldo and Neymar Jr share the date as their birthdays and Marcelo shares a tight bond with the latter due to their goings for the Brazilian football team. However, Real Madrid fans, the die-hard followers they are, took it as a disrespect for Cristiano Ronaldo which triggered an all out backlash on twitter.
Marcelo went on wishing the rival club member by sharing a picture with him with a caption “Congratulations and many happy returns. Lots of health, love and success little bro I love you!!”
However, when the left back was inundated with comments asking him why he didn’t celebrate Ronaldo’s birthday, Marcelo snapped at his followers, writing “Shut the f**k up idiots“.
A volcano erupted among the fans and some even marked him cack-handed and inept to play with the likes of Ronaldo. Nevertheless, the 28-year-old later shared another Instagram photo with the Portuguese attacker but by then, the damage was already done for a lot of Madrid fans.
Bichooo hoje é teu dia mané!!! Parabéns felicidades Bro! @cristiano

All we have to see now, what kind of response Marcelo Vieira will get from the fans at the next game.
Cristiano Ronaldo, however, has not commented on the issue while Real Madrid authorities too have ignored the issue as of now.
Neymar Jr. on the other hand, showing his competitive side, stated that Barcelona can still win the La Liga title despite their arch rivals, Real Madrid leading the tally with a solitary point and they still have two games left. “I know it’s a little hard, but nothing is impossible. Last year, we were 12 points ahead of second place – and we only won by one or two [points], if I’m not mistaken. There are still a lot of games to go, a lot of matches, anything can happen, and we are really focused. We are thirsty for the title and we’re going for it,” Barca’s attacker said, reflecting on the way Real Madrid chipped away at his own side’s advantage in the 2015-16 campaign.
