Barcelona has defeated Atletico Madrid by 2-1 during the first leg of Copa Del Rey 2016/2017 semi-finals and the world again witnessed the classical performance of the South American duo with two absolutely heavenly goals, which left Atletico Madrid in tatters.
Diego Simeone’s squad have had huge success against Barcelona in recent years with the help of their devastating and earth shaking counter attacking style, however, Atletico Madrid was on the receiving end of their own same tactic during the first half as Luis Suarez took only seven minutes to kick off the score tally. His brilliant and unbeaten run from Barcelona’s box to the finish line left the Atletico Madrid’s defenders in shock (and the crowd in awe) and they cool finish just left us asking for more.
Lionel Messi took little time to double the lead after he shot a piledriver from outside the box to which, Moya had no answer. This was Messi’s eighth goal from outside the box this season, double than any other Spaniard.
However, Antoine Griezmann took Atletico Madrid back into the game when he found the net after catching Barcelona’s defence sleeping during a free kick. Gabi took the ball back into the box and sent it to an unmarked Godin and the latter found Griezmann at an attacking position, and the Frenchman’s close-range header found the the back of the net.
This was the last goal that the crowd witnessed as Barcelona’s defence successfully shielded their goalpost, however, Lionel Messi wanted more and kept on targeting the opposition, but to no avail.
The match ended with the score sheet reflecting 2-1 in Barca’s favor, making them the firm contenders of the Copa Del Rey 2016/2017 title.
As for Atlético, they are lacking their vital signs of late, as there was less of the intensity with which Atlético Madrid became a reckoning force, leaving Barcelona unusually comfortable.
Meanwhile, Twitter erupted after Barcelona’s thumping win over Atletico Madrid and the heart pounding performance of Messi and Suarez. See the magic happening here:

We got robbed by Barcelona. We should've sold Suarez for 100+ million.

That’s a goal worthy of Barça’s actual coach, the one and only Messi with his assistant coach Suárez.
