Indian Premiere League, also known as “entertainment ka baap” is sporting extravaganza for Cricket Fans but for young cricket guns, it is a great platform to show their immense talent to the world.
Every year IPL produces young talent and this year Yuzvendra Chahal has turned out to be one of the top emerging players in IPL 2016.
Yuzvendra Chahal – the leg-spinner from Jind, Haryana, who represent Haryana in domestic cricket and also plays for RCB in IPL, recently has been selected for India’s tour of Zimbabwe 2016.
Yuzvendra Chahal is not only a good leg spinner but also a profound chess player. He is the only sportsperson who has represented India in both cricket and chess. He has been playing chess and cricket since he was seven and has participated in Asian as well as world youth championship of chess.
“Chess helps me in plotting the opposition batsman’s dismissal. I try to be one step ahead of the batsman, especially in T20 where the bowler has to think on his feet,” – Yuzvendra Chahal.
Chahal got the first opportunity in 2011, when IPL franchise Mumbai Indians picked him for IPL season. He got noticed when he picked 2 wickets for 9 runs in 3 overs in the big Final match against RCB which helped Mumbai Indians to become the IPL champions in 2013.
Chahal was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IPL Auction 2014 and was the RCB’s highest wicket-taker in the IPL 2015 season.
Chahal’s consistent performance in IPL 2016 has earned a great opportunity to represent India in the upcoming India’s tour of zimbabwe 2016 for 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. At one stage, he became the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2016. He finished his IPL 2016 with an impressive bowling performance and took 21 wickets at an economy rate of 7.97.
Now, Yuzvendra Chahal is all set to debut for India and he just can’t wait to wear India’s jersey. In his words, “After a really good performance, I thought I will be getting a call from selectors and I finally got one. I and my entire family were too happy. They blessed me. I just can’t wait to wear the India jersey.”
Way to go! Yuzvendra Chahal!!
