Ravichandran Ashwin is building up a great CV with some of the brightest achievements in every department whether it is performing with the bat in tensed situations or showering his wrath with the ‘Kookaburra’. Gone are the days when India was only known for its batting lineup and since the introduction of Ashwin in the Indian Team, the squad has gone through an unbelievable revolution.
There were days when spinners were believed to produce the best of bowling once the ball lost its shine. It was MS Dhoni who started a new chapter in Indian bowling by frequently opening the attack through Ravichandran Ashwin’s hands. The bowler has never failed to fulfill the expectations and has shined throughout his career.
Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble were once the most dominating bowling duo that the world ever saw and R.Ashwin has left no stone unturned to take the Indian team into a new Era.
Ravichandran Ashwin has achieved a new feat by coming all square with the likes of Dennis Lillee, Imran Khan and Kapil Dev for having 23 five-wicket hauls on their name. He stands third in the list of most five-wicket taking Indian bowlers after Anil Kumble (35) and Harbhajan Singh (25).
Noticeably, Ashwin has become the most celebrated spinner currently playing International Cricket and there is no arguing with the fact that ‘If we talk about spin, Ashwin comes first to our mind’, he is that great of a bowler.
When an Indian Captain brings Ravichandran Ashwin to action, the opposition fathom about the attacking strategies their opponents are opting. He has been beaten by batsmen from around the world, faced criticism in fielding but that is how we learn. We fall and we rise but, what defines us is how well we rise, and this is what Ashwin has done all his life.
There are no second thoughts about the fact that R.Ashwin is one of the biggest assets for the Indian Team and here are some of the facts that prove the aforesaid statement.
1. He is the fastest Indian bowler to achieve the 50,100 and 150 wickets mark by claiming them in 9, 18 and 29 test matches, respectively.
2. Ashwin and Ian Botham are the fastest bowlers in the world to claim 50 wickets and score 500 runs.
3. He is the third Indian to score a century and take a 5 wicket haul in the same test match.
4. R.Ashwin stands with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag for claiming the ‘Man of the Series’ title five times.
When we talk about the New Era, R.Ashwin is the only full time bowler in the top three and he is took only 12 series to achieve this feat. Notably, Sachin Tendulkar took 74 and Sehwag took 74 and 38 series to achieve this.
These are some of the biggest achievements of Ravichandran Ashwin’s career as the actual list has no ending. The star player has a long career ahead of him and we would love to see Ashwin breaking more records in the coming future.
Coming to the ongoing 4th Test match of India vs England series 2016, visitors have given the trail of 400 runs to the Indian team and at second day stumps, India’s scoresheet reflected 164 runs with the loss of one wicket (KL Rahul).
