In a CPL match between St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and Barbados Tridents on Wednesday, West Indies batsman Kieran Powell collided horrifically with his teammate JJ Smuts and was carried in an ambulance to the hospital from the field.
Barbados Tridents batsman AB de Villiers tried to smash a ball and the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots players collided with each other in the process to take a catch. De Villiers was on fire and after completing his half century he wanted to smash a ton. He was playing on 67 when Alzarri Joseph threw a ball and De Villiers tried to smash a big hit.
Now Powell ran from his position towards the ball and Smuts ran from the opposite direction towards the ball and both the players collided terribly with each other. Powell landed his head banging the turf and fell flat on the field. The staff and players came for assistance and Powell was immediately lifted in an ambulance.
