IPL 2017 Match 19 SRH vs KXIP: Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the man of the hour with his best IPL haul of 5/19.
Sunrisers Hyderabad entered with an intent in the 19th match of the ongoing IPL 2017 against Kings XI Punjab at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. This was an absolute thriller with both teams playing a back and forth game which resulted in one of most nail-biting as well as entertaining last-minute finishes.
Ticking the very first box, David Warner played an exceptional unbeaten knock of 70 runs off 54 balls and gave a steady start to SRH. However, only Naman Ojha (34 off 20) managed to spend a substantial time on the pitch with his captain while the whole orange army went cheap without much contribution to the 159 runs total.
The target seemed almost impossible to defend and that is what the Orange flag bearers in the stands might be thinking of. Moreover, Manan Vohra (95 off 50) played the innings of his life and turned the game around when it seemed deeply buried for KXIP as his wait for a partner with blade never ended till the last moments. Manan Vohra was almost able to a single-handed heist but it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who came with a breakthrough for his team and sent Vohra back to the pavilion when the game was almost lost for the home team.
Neither it was a game between two franchises nor between two arch rivals, but the clash of Manan Vohra and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the two really special performers who breathtakingly good, will be remembered for a long time.
But only one of them emerged as a clear winner, because that’s how life is, and it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who managed to be on the winning side.
Here is Bhuvi’s 5-wicket haul during which he conceded only 19 runs, which was also his personal best in the history of IPL.
As for the stats, this was SRH’s fifth consecutive win against KXIP and David Warner registered his 5th consecutive fifty against Punjab as well. Moreover, Sunrisers Hyderabad now holds both the Orange and Purple caps of IPL 2017, Bhuvneshwar Kumar being the highest wicket-taker and David Warner being the leading run-scorer.
It’s turning out to be a perfect start for the defending Indian Premier League Champions!!
