4 people including a police officer lost their lives in a bomb blast in Kishoreganj on Thursday. Seven police officers have also been injured in this attack. The blast happened near a mass Eid prayer gathering, where a group of attackers threw bombs at a school about a kilometre from Bangladesh’s Largest Eid Congregation.
About 200,000 people were gathered to mark the start of Eid there, the attackers are believed to be hiding in the school. One week ago Bangladesh capital Dhaka was attacked where 7 terrorists attacked a popular cafe and killed 22 people.
The Information Minister of Bangladesh Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said that these are political attacks and have no Islamic agenda.
A police officer stated that the attackers threw a homemade bomb at a police check post in which a police constable was killed. One attacker was killed and another attacker was arrested.
‘How can people attack those who have been doing namaz?’ asked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Bangladesh is facing a growing tide of attacks since the beginning of this year, many of these attacks were operated by Islamic State or the Al-Qaeda network.
The Islamic State terror group has issued a terrifying video yesterday that delivers a threatening message. It states, “What you witnessed in Bangladesh was a glimpse. This will repeat, repeat and repeat until you lose and we win and the sharia is established throughout the world.”
