We knew that funny things often happened at airports and mid-flight. But did we ever think that something so outrageous and ballistic would happen that it may just go beyond the trajectory of weird?
Apparently, an NRI traveller has been detained at the Delhi airport and been held by the police for something so offensive that it may simply give one shivers down the spine. It turns out that a man holding a Russian passport was taken into custody after a woman seated next to him in the Delhi-bound flight alleged that he actually masturbated in front of her.
This gross incident happened in a flight that was bound to reach Delhi from Istanbul, in Turkey. Just why would anyone do something so hideous and startling is beyond anyone’s reasonable understanding?
But it ought to be said that as a fellow human being you’ve got to feel for the woman passenger who had to bear the disgusting act performed by the NRI passenger. In the immediate aftermath of the complaint lodged by the woman, the security control room at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, also known as the IGI, was informed about there being an unruly passenger being onboard the flight bound for Delhi.
It is also known that the airline in question is amongst the most revered carriers in current times: Turkish Airlines. But then such mindlessness can transpire anywhere in the world, isn’t it? These incidents can happen on any airliner, it has to be said. And now back to the shocking incident. The moment the airport authorities were informed about the unruly NRI passenger, personnel from CISF, that are tasked with guarding the airport rushed to the scene and approached flight no. TK-716 to take the accused under custody.
They had been informed by the authorities about the woman had made a distress call to the Delhi Police alleging sexual misconduct. What was most unnerving is the sheer redundancy of such a heinous act. The man holding the Russian passport, it is believed, simply unzipped his pants and began to engage in a manner that was shocking and completely unexpected from the woman passenger, who was shocked to the core.
In the immediate aftermath of the woman complaining to the flight crew, she was shifted to another seat. The man, once snatched by the CRPF Personnel was handed over to the Delhi Police. What’s revealed so far is that the man has been booked under Section 509 (explained as- a word, action or gesture intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPL (Indian Penal Code).
But that said, what one needs to ascertain in the future is that what measures can an airline possibly take in the event such persons, culpable for having engaged in an objectional action can be prevented from harming another fellow passenger?
