For Sikhs, turban holds a religious significance. It is the symbol of pride and integrity for them. They are known to put their lives in danger just to maintain the respect of it.
But saving a life was something that prompted Punjab resident Sarwan Singh to remove his turban in public.
The 28-year- old man was too quick on his thought when he saw a dog drowning in an irrigation canal and put his turban to best use.
When he arrived at the scene three-four men were standing there helplessly.
Singh, who couldn’t swim himself, knew that he had to do something to save the dog. Without any forethought he removed his turban and used it as a line for dog to grab on to. Within seconds, the dog came out of the canal unscathed. It is alive and is doing well.
“The dog was frightened, so I fed him some biscuits and let him go on his own,” Singh told The Daily Mail.
The video of this incident has been uploaded on YouTube by Caters Clips, showing the brave man climbing down the banks of canal to save the animal.
As the video has circulated over Internet, Singh is receiving praise for his act of kindness.
