1. Ten dead in an explosion in St Petersburg Metro, Russia
On Monday, ten people died and 50 injured in an explosion in two train carriages at St Petersburg metro station, Russia. Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, said that the real cause of the explosion is not clear yet, however, they are considering all the possibilities including terrorism as well. Three nearby stations have been shut down, as per a local media outlet.
2. CRPF convoy attacked near Pantha Chowk in J&K.
Some suspected militants opened fire at a CRPF convoy near Pantha Chowk in Srinagar on Monday. Till now, six CRPF personnel and a civilian have been reported injured in this attack which is said to be second such attack in last two days, against the Security Forces in the valley. The attack occurred when the CRPF jawans of the 97 Battalion were on their way to Srinagar where they have been put on an election duty for the Lok Sabha by-polls that are scheduled for 9th April.
3. Somali pirates hijacked Indian commercial ship.
On Monday, the Directorate General Of Shipping said that Somali pirates have hijacked an Indian cargo ship that had 11 Indian crew members, off the Somali coast. The ship was on its way to Yemen from Dubai and even though it was not a big ship, it indeed had 11 Indian on board. The pirates have not put out a ransom amount for the ship till now, however, the Directorate does think that a ransom would soon come out.
4. MS Dhoni became CEO of Gulf Oil India for a day.
Former Indian skipper was appointed as the “CEO of the Day” by a major oil company in Mumbai. He took charge of Gulf Oil India as their CEO in Mumbai office and had a gala time while sitting on the main chair. He has been the brand ambassador of the firm since 2011. His arrival at the position was a surprise for the staff too, as the news was kept a secret for everyone. He took part in some meetings as well as took some major decisions too.
