Shobhaa De has been in news more time for shaming others than for her actual literary work which makes us think if simply bad-mouthing about someone is the best way to be controversial? I guess Shobhaa De has the answer and formula for that.
She has been walking on the path of denigrating someone in order to gain popularity. Be it her Rio Olympics statement or her jab at Sushma Swaraj or the time she skinny shamed Kate Middleton and Sonam Kapoor, are the perfect example of her picking up on mindless subjects in order to constantly be on social media headlines.
This time again, De went out of her way to take a dig against Mumbai Police who apart from being fully dedicated to people’s safety, also has a kick-ass twitter account which is full of puns.
So when she posted this tweet of a ‘fat’ guy, things were bound to go down.
Heavy police bandobast in Mumbai today! pic.twitter.com/sY0H3xzXl3

However, not even in her wildest dreams would Shobha de have thought of a reply this wicked and straight-forward from the Mumbai Police twitter handle.
We love puns too Ms De but this one is totally imisplaced. Uniform/official not ours. We expect better from responsible citizens like you. https://t.co/OcKOoHO5bX

And, after this, others jumped on the waggon and made Shobha realised once again that they won’t take shit for police from a celebrity writer.
Kudos @MumbaiPolice for standing up for dignity!
Seems celebs look out for their own image but put down ors.
About time people called it out— Amrita Bhinder (@amritabhinder) February 21, 2017

.@DeShobhaa if body shaming is worthy of condemnation for women, men deserve the same. Gender equality needs advocates, not your puns😬👺
