New Delhi: An incident which can bring major embarrassment for the Uttar Pradesh government, a top bureaucrat is caught on camera urinating at the ‘Triveni Sangam’. The photo of Allahabad ADM (Nazul) OP Shrivastav relieving himself at the holy place has gone viral.
As per the media reports, probe has been ordered against him after people expressed massive outrage on the social media.
However, the official has denied the reports and said that he was not urinating but was just washing his hands on the banks of the river.
“I was just washing hands and adjusting my pants. Was not urinating. I was 15-20 feet away from the river. Like any other Hindu I also respect ‘Triveni Sangam’ a lot, would not do such a thing,” said Shrivastav.
The officer, apparently, was there to discuss arrangements for the upcoming Triveni Mahotsav when this shameful incident took place.
Ironically, he is seen wearing a ‘Clean Ganga’ t-shirt while committing this act.
Terming the ‘urinating’ act as “unforgivable offence”, the Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Laxmikanth Bajpai has asked state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to suspend the official.
The NDA government in 2014 launched ‘Namami Gange’ project to bring back the past glory of the river.
