One of Bhubaneswar’s most exports to the Indian government, Shaktikanta Das, who happens to be India’s current RBI Governor, has tested positive for the novel COVID 19 Pandemic.
Aged 62, Shaktikanta Das, became the RBI Governor following Urjit Das, who was the 24th Governor of the central bank of India (responsible for the issue and supply of the Indian rupee).
Mr. Shaktikanta Das informed country about his health status on Sunday via social media.
Taking to the world’s largest and most popular microblogging platform Twitter, Mr. Shaktikanta Das offered the following:
“I have tested COVID-19 positive. Asymptomatic. Feeling very much alright. Have alerted those who came in contact in recent days. Will continue to work from isolation. Work in RBI will go on normally. I am in touch with all Dy. Govs and other officers through VC and telephone.”
As a matter of fact, it’s already known that around 9 A.M., on Sunday, i.e., October 25, 2020- India reported no fewer than 50,129 cases in the country over a period of the last 24 hours.
This also means that the overall tally of COVID 19 cases in the country currently stand at 78.64 lakhs.
And that is not more. Where it stands right now, the overall fatality rate in the country is 1.51 per cent.
All of that said, the following is an excerpt published in the Indian Express, regarding the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, just in case you were wondering where the nation stands at this point in time:
India detected 50,129 cases of the novel coronavirus in the 24 hours ending 9 am Sunday, taking its overall tally to 78.64 lakh. The detection of new cases has remained below 60,000 for the last seven days. India’s tally of 78,64,811 cases includes 6,68,154 patients who are undergoing treatment, 70,78,123 who have recovered and 1,18,534 deaths. The active cases have declined for the 22nd consecutive day and is now the lowest since August 13. The national recovery rate touched 90 per cent on Sunday, prompting the Union Health Ministry to say India had recorded “a new milestone”. India’s fatality rate, meanwhile, is 1.51 per cent.
In the recent past, Prime Minster Shri Narendra Modi addressed the country via national broadcast wherein he urged the country to practice patience and asked one to exercise restraint, even as the spread of COVID 19 cases in the country aren’t exactly pointing to a dangerous condition.
The above is actually important to understand for the overall deaths in India, at this time, stands at 1,18,621. Now, whether this is a very dangerous number or not really (in fact, not even close to being dangerous) warrants a well-informed discussion.

Coming back to Mr. Shaktikanta Das’ condition, one can’t say how seriously ill he is, if at all. This is because the condition was detected only recently (in fact, just a few hours ago). Here’s wishing him a speedy recovery.
