New Delhi: In a sheer display of sportsmanship Prime Minister Narendra Modi today offered water to the Aam Aadmi Party MP Bhagwant Mann, who was protesting against him in the Parliament.
As per media reports, Mann was shouting slogans in the Well against the government over CBI raid when the incident happened.
Amid the strong protest, Bhagwant Mann felt uneasy and was looking for water on the table of Lok Sabha secretariat officials who sit in the Well.
Smiling PM Modi then offered him the glass of water, which was kept on his table, and the AAP MP accepted it and drank with pleasure.
Moreover, the two exchanged smiles before Mann kept the glass back on table and PM Modi put the cover on.
While PM Modi’s gesture received thumping from BJP members, the AAP MP thereafter continued to raise anti-government slogans.
When Bhagwant Mann was questioned over the incident by the media persons, he appreciated PM Modi’s gesture by and called it ‘modest’.
Mann, sitting AAP MP from Sangrur constituency in Punjab, was trying to attract Speaker Sumitra Mahajan’s attention by showing her a horde of papers. To which the speaker gave a cold reply and termed his act as not a “good behaviour”.
Then, Mann had to shift to the other side of the Well which was close to Prime Minister’s seat. It was then that this unusual incident happened between the two.
Yesterday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had accused Modi government of running a strategy against him after the day-long raid at Delhi Secretariat. And AAP members were protesting all day long against it.
