A petition has been filed against the former Supreme Court Judge Markandey Katju on sedition charges in Patna CJM court due to his hilarious comment, in which he offered Bihar and Kashmir as a package to Pakistan in a comment on 25 September.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar accused Katju of staging himself as the ‘Mai Baap’ of Bihar, to which he again gave a witty reply by saying “Nitish Kumar says that I regard myself as the ‘mai-baap’ of Bihar. No Nitishji, I am not the ‘mai-baap’ of Biharis but their Shakuni Mama.” (it seems he is not a person who will revert)
He also claimed that the former Prime Minister of India Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee has also offered the same ‘Package’ to Pakistan earlier.
All the other parties have shown their displeasure on Markandey Katju’s statement and requested an apology statement from Katju.

profusely apologized for ever asking for Kashmir,& have promised never to do it again.
The idea of getting Bihar too has horrified them— Markandey Katju (@mkatju) September 26, 2016
He has been booked under section 124A (sedition) and section 500, 501 and 505 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). His date of hearing is yet to be decided by CJM but, after the complaint, he said in another statement that his remarks were misunderstood and the Bihar statement was just a joke (with due respect Sir, it was a riotous joke). He also apologized in a statement on Wednesday and said that he had great respect for the state and Biharis.
In February this year, a sedition case was registered against the JNU President Mr. Kanhaiya Kumar when anti-national slogans were spoken in the university campus. He was highly criticized and a strong case is in progress against him. Now a question arises that if our lawmakers will act like this, then how will the nation be able to tackle these kinds of situations?
Now all we have to see is, what kind of punishment he gets and will his trial act as a lesson for everyone who dares to say something like this in the coming future.
