Indian Security Forces are battling with militants in Pampore District since Monday, where the militants have taken over The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) campus.
This is the second time that the militants have targeted EDI, as in February this year, another group of militants took over the campus. The gunfight in February left seven people dead including three Indian soldiers and one civilian.
Army Official have stated, that the militants planned an attack on 49 Rashtriya Rifles Army base, but when their attempt was obstructed by the Indian Army, they took shelter in Entrepreneurship Development Institute building which is situated at 12 kms from Srinagar. They also said that the militants came on boats through the Jhelum River, which connects Kashmir and Pakistan.

The terrorists are still holding their position in the institute and are retaliating the Indian Forces with rifles and grenade launchers. Three militants are said to be killed in the 50 hours gunfights while one Indian soldier has suffered injuries. The Army has opted out to wait and let the militants exhaust their ammunition because it is getting hard to tackle the militants due to the bunker-like structure of the building.
The tally of attacks is increasing day by day after the Indian Army ran surgical strikes in the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) on 29th September at seven militant bases. These back and forth fights between the militants and Indian Army started after the terrorists attacked The Uri Army Base killing 19 Indian Soldiers.
These attacks have worsened the ties between India and Pakistan as all the evidences show that the Pakistani forces are helping these militants to enter and attack Indian Army camps at Line Of Control (LOC). On the other hand, Narendra Modi Government is still trying to resolve all the issues between the two countries in a diplomatic manner.
