With the chaos emanating from the COVID 19 scare knowing not where to end, giving absolutely no respite to the citizens of India, several states have imposed either lockdowns or a state of night curfew. The situation in Maharashtra was very serious in the beginning and hence, there came a lockdown. Facets like huge gatherings in public places, whether those pertaining to testing centres or long queues regarding immunisation against the virus didn’t help cities like Mumbai, Thane or Alibaug. Then, the country became a witness to the dire straits Delhi began to suffer from with a serious shortage of oxygen only exacerbating the issues.
Meanwhile, regions like Rajasthan also experienced horrid days with the new wave of the pandemic. And now, the situation surrounding the lockdown in the state of Gujarat has taken a serious turn with 9 more cities being added to the list.
So what exactly is happening in Gujarat on ground zero? Here’s what you need to know-
It appears that in a bid to break the chain of the torrid Coronavirus situation, a decision has been taken by the Gujarat Government to add as many as 9 more cities to the list of those that were already been subjected to night curfew.
But this brings us to a key question- which all cities will now be subjected to the night curfew? To that end, please be informed that the cities of- Himmatnagar, Palampur, Valsad, Navsari, Botad, Porbandar, Viramgam, Veraval, and Chota Udaipur are all to strictly follow the night curfew regimen.
What’s also to be noted is that earlier the night curfew was imposed in 20 cities in the state, which included 8 major cities such as Surat, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar to quote a few. The timings of the same being from 8 P.M. to 6 A.M onwards.

A report on the said matter from India.com happened to share the following:
Issuing an order, the Gujarat CMO said that the malls, shopping complexes, cinema halls, auditoriums, gyms, swimming pools, water parks, public gardens, salon, spas and other amusement activities will be closed in all 29 cities. “All APMCs will be closed, only APMCs associated with vegetables and fruits can be continued,” the Gujarat CMO stated.
But all of that said, just how serious a matter is this new wave of COVID 19 in the state of Gujarat. If you have wondered about the question, then perhaps it’s best to know that one of the most culturally-rich and vibrant states in all of India has been jostling with the virus for quite some time, there being no respite in 2021.
As of the last Monday, i.e., April 26, the overall tally of cases in the state crossed the 5-lakh mark, the exact number being no fewer than 5,10,373 cases. Moreover, there was an addition of over 14,300 cases. This simply explains the pressing matter.
But at the moment, Gujarat is reeling with 1,21, 461 cases with the total number of recoveries being approximately 3,82, 426. To speak on a city-wise basis, it was Ahmedabad that recorded the most number of fatalities in a single day, the figure being 27 while the city of Surat recorded 25 deaths in a single day.
The state records also suggest that as many as 20, 19, 205 individuals have already received the second jab of the COVID vaccine. There are hopes to see better days ahead and maybe restricted movement and adherence to social distancing norms can provide the fitting solution.
