Archana Ramasundaram is the new face of changing India. The image of Indian women has always been fragile but with time women proved it wrong. Archana Ramasundaram is a new example of a strong woman, she has been appointed as a first woman director of a security force that guards the country’s border.
Archana joined the Indian police force in 1981 and now she is the director general of Sashastra Seema Bal. This is an armed border force or paramilitary force that patrols India’s border with Nepal and Bhutan. With her proud achievement, Archana proved that women in Indian police force are not delicate darlings.
She is 58 and achieved all of this with the intolerable levels of hardship. Two years before Indian government approved of recruiting women for this position and with the unmatched level of dedication she became the first Indian woman ever to ascend the position. Her remarkable passion to serve the country makes her extraordinary. As the director general of Sashastra Seema Bal, she will oversee more than 76,000 soldiers.
