India is withdrawing eight diplomats from Pakistan as their identity has been compromised through Pakistani Media. According to Indian Officials, the Indian diplomats are not safe on the other side of the border due to the increased tension between the two nations.
Indian Ministry of External affairs’ spokesperson, Vikas Swarup said that six of the eight diplomats had been withdrawn from Pakistan and the other two are expected to land on Indian soil in a couple of days.
The decision to withdraw Indian diplomats came after their names and pictures were made public in a Pakistani domain. Pakistani Media also reported earlier that the Government may expel as many as five Indian diplomats on the suspicion of spying.
Six Pakistani diplomats also returned home after Mehmood Akhtar was detained by Delhi Police due to his possession of Indian Defense related documents. During the interrogation, he revealed that 16 other Pakistani diplomats were in contact with Pakistani spies for gathering sensitive information about the Indian Army and BSF.
