1. 67 People Lost Their Lives In Mali Car Bomb Attack!
On Wednesday, at least 67 people were killed in Bamako (Mali), in a suicide car bomb attack on military barracks. Many people were injured in the death-defying attack. The sources revealed that the assailant detonated the car bomb in the northern city of Gao while entering the military barracks. Hundreds of Malian soldiers and affiliated fighters were gathered in the barracks and the blast was so massive that it covered the place in a dust cloud. No terrorist group has claimed the attack yet.
2. A Series of Three Consecutive Earthquakes Hits Central Italy.
On Wednesday, three large earthquakes hit central Italy in an hour. No casualties have been reported till now. The tremors of the quake were also felt in Rome. The first quake hit the region of Amatrice at about 10:25 a.m. with a preliminary magnitude of 5.3, the second quake hit the same region about 50 minutes later with a magnitude of 5.7 and after 10 minutes the third tremor with 5.3. magnitude shook the same area.
3. Senior Congress Leader N.D. Tiwari Joined BJP.
On Wednesday, Congress veteran leader Narayan Dutt Tiwari from Uttarakhand joined the Bharatiya Janata Party along with his son, Rohit Shekhar who joined the BJP in Delhi. Both of them were welcomed by party president Amit Shah. The 91-year-old Tiwari is one-time CM of Uttarakhand and three-time chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
4. Two Convicts Of Nirbhaya Gangrape Case Are Shifted To Separate Cell.
Two convicts in the 16 December gangrape and murder case have been shifted to separate cell in Tihar Jail. On 24 December, they both were shifted to a cell with another prisoner, who allegedly harassed them mentally and physically. The duo feared for their lives and Advocate A P Singh filed the plea on behalf of the two inmates, and after Special Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal ordered, both inmates were shifted to a separate cell on 11 January.
5. Indian Army To Get World Class Helmets For Security.
According to media reports, Indian Army will soon be equipped with a world-class helmet which will be able to bear 9mm bullets and provide extra security during operations. The production of these helmets will begin shortly as Kanpur-based MKU Industries has been already approached with the deal worth Rs. 170-180 crore to manufacture 1.58 lakh helmets. These helmets are being designed to match the global standards.
6. Sensex Flies High Again, Market Ends On A Positive Note!
BSE’s Benchmark Sensex hiked once again and closed at 27,257.64 with a gain of 22 points at the end of Wednesday trade. NSE’s Nifty also landed in a positive zone as it saw the growth by 19.00 points and ended on a happy note at 8,417.00.
