An encounter between Indian Security Forces and terrorists is underway since early morning at the Langate area of Handwara District of Jammu & Kashmir.
According to reports, terrorists tried to breach the International Border by taking advantage of the early morning darkness but the Indian Forces were able to track them. These terrorists initiated a gun battle and it is still underway.
Reports also said that the terrorists are in possession of automatic weapons and are also using 120mm mortar shells. The Indian Army has secured the area and search operations are also underway.

The tensions between the two nations have increased to multi-folds since Indian Army carried out Surgical Strike at seven militant bases in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on 29th September and a total of 300 such encounters has been faced by Indian Army including those with Pakistani Troops.
The situation got worse after the Pakistani Troops killed 3 Indian soldiers, beheading one of them. Indian Army has vowed ‘heavy retribution’ and is giving a befitting response to every ceasefire violation or infiltration attempt.

Here are some of the recent cross-border encounters that Indian Army faced.
25th November: Terrorists attacked the Kulgam Army Base, killing two officers and leaving one injured.
22nd November: Two terrorists were gunned down by the Indian Army at Hanjan Village of Bandipora District, along the International Border (IB).
19th November: One terrorist was killed in an encounter with Indian Security forces at the Pulwama District of Kashmir.
