1. Delhi Registered the Highest Per Capita Income
National Capital Delhi registered the highest per capita income of Rs 2,80,000 in the nation including all states and union territories for FY 2015-2016. Chandigarh came second with Rs 2,42,386 and Sikkim constituted the top three with Rs 2,27,465. Delhi’s per capita income rose by 13% as compared to Rs 2,52,011 recorded in previous year.
2. Fire in Pune Bakery Claims 6 Lives
Six people were reported dead after a fire broke out at a bakery in Kondhwa Khurd area of Pune. The deceased were employees and were sleeping inside the bakery when the fire broke out. Since the doors were bolted from the outside, they died of suffocation on Friday morning. Initial investigations have reported that a short circuit may have caused the fire.
3. Around 50 Workers Trapped in Jharkhand Coal Mine.
A coal mine located in Lalmatia area of Godda district of Jharkhand collapsed on Thursday night, leaving several trapped. Mining operations were taking place 200 feet beneath the ground and locals reported that there was crack in the mud heap which led to the collapsed. The entry point of coal mine was blocked and rescue operations are underway.
4. Akhilesh Yadav Released his own List of Candidates
Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav released a list of 235 candidates for the upcoming polls, a day after his father and SP supremo, Mulayam Singh released the names of 325 candidates for UP polls. The move by Akhilesh Yadav has created a confusion among the party members as the list contains the names of candidates who were denied a ticket by Mulayam Singh. There is a total of 404 assembly seats in the state and whether the candidates will stand against each other or contest the election under Samajwadi Party is uncertain.
5. 3 Kidney Smugglers Arrested in Nepal
Nepal Police on Thursday arrested three kidney smugglers involved in a racket across Indo-Nepal border. Binu Bahadur Timalsina (44) from Mahadevsthan, Prakash Basnet (47) from Bhimeshwor and Bhim Prasad Neupane (36) from Dangsing were arrested. Police Officials further added that two other members of the rackets fled from the spot of arrest and search operations are underway to nab them.
6. Sensex up by 211 points, Rupee too Jumps Against US Dollar
Market got off to a positive start on the final trading day of 2016 as BSE rose to 26,576.77 after a 210.62 pointer growth due the acceleration triggered by beginning of Future & Option series of January. NSE Nifty also grew by 59.85 points and traded at 8,163.45 during the early trade of Friday. Indian Rupee stood firm after a growth of 16 paise and reached 67.94 against US Dollar.
